A national collective open media project has created these tools/modules for community media centers like ours over the past year. We are now ready to install and use the reservation modules and update our web site.
We are a small non-profit in rural California that helps the community have access to free media tools and equipment, the Internet and media literacy training, as well as free airing of local content on our four cable television channels.
With implementation of this new innovative technology toolkit, CMAP is poised to help more local residents access the power of the media. The volunteer will join other volunteers, including a CTC Vista member, to install, test and train members, staff and volunteers to make the best use of technology efficiencies. Collaboration between CMAP and other media centers is imminent.
Knowledge of Drupal, and/or PHP/MySQL is required; work with community media and/or non-profit organizations is a plus.
It creaks along, but we'd like to join the modern world, now
We think PHP is the path to better proformance and need a PHP GURU to consult with us.
Your assistance will help make a huge difference in the lives of LGBT people looking for services and support in the L.A. area.
The code has been developed using Shell scripts under the GPL licence. But it has been fully completed and documented yet. So it cannot be published and shared back to the community.
Moreover, after developing this code, it has been discovered that the use of SOAP commands on the basis of PHP library was actually much more efficient and powerful solution than Shell scripts.
The goal of this mission consists therefore in:
- migrating the code from Shell scripts to SOAP service call in PHP
- strengthening and documenting the code in order to publish it.
One week full-time work should be more than enough to do the job.
The campaign's website, http://www.YesFairElections.org, is implemented with a mix of CiviCRM in Drupal and custom PHP code that interfaces with it. We need a Drupal or CiviCRM developer volunteer to help extend the site's tools to empower activists to contact enough voters to help pass this groundbreaking proposition.
Please also reply if you have strong PHP/MySQL/html skills and are willing to dig into extending them to Drupal and CiviCRM.
Volunteer will be supported by the programmer who developed the website and also the chair of the statewide campaign.
Maybe you have some spare time each day and have access to the internet to do research, post ads or just hang out on our community portal!
We're looking for volunteer positions to be filled to work on short term projects. Some projects are as easy as just talking to other people. Some are as complicated as writing PHP code or negotiating deals with businesses.
There's another meeting coming up shortly and we're interested in hearing your ideas!
Right now, our meetings are held right in Providence and we're looking to find a base of volunteers that we'd like to eventually PAY a salary to.
Interested?
We are looking to rapidly improve the alonovo.com web portal while also building new software to use Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 strategy. An understanding of and experience with Drupal, PHP, AJAX, mySQL and Javascript can help us grow and further us toward our mission.
We have an enormous website --about 20,000 htlm pages and growing weekly
As you can probably imagine, a site that large designed entirely in html creaks along.
We need to join the XXI century.
We are looking to build a calendar much like the PHP ICalendar (http://phpicalendar.net/). We would like to build in functionality to filter the calendar based on location of the event and a few other variables. Additionally, we would like to integrate social media sharing options for each event posting as well as syndication capabilities.
Since Net Impact lacks sufficient technological and budget capacity to complete this project, your efforts will make a significant impact for our organization and our members and further Net Impact’s mission to transform business. Upon completion of the project you will be recognized as a Net Impact volunteer on our Partners page.
Our nonprofit matches teachers and schools with donors of new, used and in-kind resources. This is a zero-cost service for educators. And we make sure that it stays that way by keeping a small staff and relying on amazing volunteers who donate their time, talent and enthusiasm toward the cause.
We need any or all of the following:
• Custom API
• Increased reporting capabilities
• Dashboard/analytics
• Additional site features and functions (e.g., online resource library).
What you get in return:
• Flexible volunteer demands and hours
• The ability to volunteer remotely
• Strengthened pro-bono portfolio
• The knowledge that you’re work directly impacts schoolchildren and improves education on a local and national level.
Please contact us today for more information!
This is a long range project, potentially occurring over the next 6 months. We hope to go live with the new site in August, 2010. This is a flexible date, according to the needs and availability of volunteers.
I need someone to take our online speakers bureau to the next level!
You can see the online speakers bureau at:
http://thedccenter.org/services_speakers.php
All the speakers have been added to a mysql database. (we have about 10 more speakers to go, but you get the idea) We are hosted by powweb.com and you can access the database that way.
Now we need someone who is familiar with PHP stuff to add the cool stuff, like.
1. Being able to search the speakers by what languages they speak
2. Being able to search the speakers by what topics they speak on.
3. Creating an online form where we can add or edit speakers without going into the mysql database,
This is a very specific request, I know, but it would be a HUGE help to us.
Let me know if this is something you can assist with.

Eustaquia Silayan is 58 years old, married to Orlando who is a fisherman with an average income of Php 160.00 per day. The couple have four children, the eldest son is 34 years old and the youngest is 13 years old.
Eustaquia and Orlando have been engaged in backyard hog raising (raising of pigs) for one year and have been a member of ASHI for almost one year. Their business has been the biggest support for their day-to-day needs especially their children's schooling. Through her determination and by being a good mother, Eustaquia provides for the needs of her children with the help of her business because her husband's income as a fisherman could not afford their children's education. This is why Estaquia is engaged in this business which also supports her four children's dreams.
They dream that someday their business will grow and that they can have a stable hog farming business in the future and a good life. She is proposing to borrow a loan amounting to Php 20,000.00 for additional capital in their hog raising business to prolong their fight against and rise up from poverty. Eustaquia will use the loan for the purchase of five piglets worth Php 7,500.00, five canvas sacks of feed amounting to Php 5,500.00, five sacks of binlid (food for pigs) and vitamins at a cost of Php 7,000.00, for the expansion of her business in order to sustain her family in a steady way of living. She hopes to see herself enjoying the profits of her business and to have a good life.

Letecia Aparente is 44 years old and a mother of two, a boy and a girl. She is married to Eustaquio, a fisherman, and lives on the island village of Malacaban, Bainangonan, Rizal province. Letecia is a woman of faith and determination to rise above poverty.
In 1995, Letecia joined ASHI (Ahon Sa Hirap, Inc.), an MFI and KIVA partner in the Philippines, and was noted for her exemplary performance. When she joined ASHI and was able to have access to capital, she invested her loan in the resale of fish. But years later, she opted to set up a fish cage (fishpond) business, which she found more profitable and easier to maintain. Currently, she has fish caging as her primary business and the resale of fish as her secondary business.
Now on her 11th loan, Letecia is requesting the amount of 45,000 PHP to pay for the materials needed for her fish cage business: 3 cages worth 30,000 PHP, 100 pieces of bamboo worth 5,000 PHP, and 10,000 PHP worth of fingerlings. Letecia is optimistic that her business will grow bigger and will bring enough profit for her family's needs. She is also hopeful that with the proceeds from her business, she can send her youngest daughter to college to finish her desired course.
